Why have a boiler service?

There are many reasons to have a boiler service. Firstly, it is important to maintain the integrity of the boiler, helping to keep it running efficiently and safely.

One of our engineer’s Steve recently serviced a boiler and found a moth in the venturi and a grommet missing on the casing. This was causing the boiler to produce too much Carbon Monoxide with an open case. Steve cleaned up the venturi and put a new grommet in the case. This resolved the issue and kept the boiler working safely, showing the importance of regular servicing for safety and efficiency reasons.

BOILER SERVICE BOILER SERVICES

Here are some other reasons you may want to consider important for getting a boiler service:

Cost and Energy Saving

Having a regular service will help save you money in the long-term. The engineer can detect small issues that could turn into larger ones later down the line. Nobody wants a big bill when a service could have picked up the small potential issue before it got bigger and ended up costing more money.

Energy Efficiency

A boiler that is healthy and runs properly is more energy and cost efficient versus a boiler that hasn’t been maintained. A boiler that hasn’t been maintained can use more energy, making your running bills higher. This is especially important with the current energy prices and every household will be looking at how they can save heading into the winter months.

Manufacturer’s Warranty

If you have had a new boiler installed recently, you may need to keep up with the servicing in order to protect your manufacturer’s warranty, otherwise it could mean its out of the terms and conditions. It is  wise to keep on top of this to maintain your warranty period.

Extend Boiler’s Lifespan

Maintaining a boiler can help extend it’s lifespan. Boilers are expensive to replace and so it’s a good investment to maintain them in the long-term. A boiler service will do just that.

Prevent Accidents

Having regular boiler services will help to keep your boiler safe and prevent a fatal accident. Carbon Monoxide is invisible and has no smell making it almost impossible to notice if you had a leak. It happens when your boiler isn’t working properly or using the fuel safely. A boiler service can ensure that the boiler is running safely and will give you peace of mind for your family.

Landlord Certificates

Perhaps you’re a landlord? You’ll need to ensure that all gas boilers and appliances are safe to be used and so will need Gas Safety Inspections. This is a legal requirement that needs to be fulfilled.

How often do I need a boiler service and who can do it?

An annual boiler service is recommended for maintenance and you’ll need a Gas Safe Registered engineer to carry out the service for you. All of our Waterworx engineers are Gas Safe Registered, so you can be assured that they have been approved to work on your boiler.

Summer Boiler Servicing

Even though your heating is switched off now as we’re in the swing of the summer months, it’s actually a great time to get a boiler service.

You’re probably not giving it a thought until winter but if you wait to get a service then you may have to wait longer for a booking. This is because heating engineers are extremely busy in the winter season. Everybody has the same idea of turning their heating on subsequently leading to more breakdowns to resolve.  As the temperatures plummet and boilers are having issues, it can make it difficult to get an appointment. Therefore, having your boiler serviced in the summer months is the perfect time to get on top of your heating’s maintenance.  This will give you peace of mind that it’ll be ready for the winter when you need it and will likely be using it for the next 6 months.
